Karan Kapoor is an Indo-British Photographer, former actor & former model. He is the son of Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendal. He was born on January 18, 1962 to Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendal in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He has an elder brother Kunal Kapoor and a younger sister Sanjana Kapoor.
Karan Kapoor made his acting debut in Shyam Benegal’s Junoon (1978) and later acted in movies like 36 Chowringhee Lane (1981), Sultanat (1986), Loha (1987), Zalzala (1988) and Afsar (1988). But he could not establish himself as an actor because of his english looks so he quit acting and took photography as his profession. Currently he runs a photography company in the UK.
He was a famous model and featured in the famous Bombay Dyeing advertisement campaign.
He was married to british model Lorna Tarling and they are now separated. The couple have a daughter Aliya Kapoor and a son Zak Kapoor.
Elder brother Kunal Kapoor also acted in some bollywood movies and now he is a leading Ad Film Maker and runs a Ad company Adfilms Valas. Kunal was married to Sheena Sippy, daughter of filmmaker Ramesh Sippy. They are now separated and have a son Zahan Kappor and a daughter Shaira Kapoor.
Younger sister Sanjana Kapoor also tried her luck in movies and now she runs the Junoon theatre company. She was earlier married to actor and director Aditya Bhattacharya. After that she married the tiger conservationist, Valmik Thapar, son of the journalist Romesh Thapar. They have a son Hamir Thapar.
Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Kapoor were his paternal grandparents & Geoffrey Kendal and Laura Kendal were his maternal grandparents.
Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor were his paternal uncles.
He was in a relationship with hollywood actress Madeliene Potter in 1985.
In August 1987, he gave a controversial interview to Stardust magazine. He criticized the indian film industry and told that he prefers to live in New York and London in comparison to Bombay.
In 2009, his photograph “Old Couple” won the award at International Photography Awards.
